U-Multirank 2022: Munich Business School scores well in internationality and other categories

As in previous years, the recently published university ranking U-Multirank 2022 attests Munich Business School (MBS) top marks in several ranking categories. In addition to international orientation, the university is particularly convincing in the categories of knowledge transfer and research.

The fact that Munich Business School has an extremely international student body and places value on an international orientation in its study programmes is no longer a novelty. For years, the global university ranking U-Multirank, in which over 2,000 institutions from 96 countries participate, has given the university top marks in the category of international orientation.

This is also the case in 2022: MBS ranks among the top class in all relevant subcategories - from foreign-language Bachelor's and Master's programmes to international academic staff and student mobility.

In addition, the 2022 edition of U-Multirank also delivers pleasing results in the other ranking categories. For example, MBS was able to confirm its first-time top position from the previous year in the category of specialist publications (research area) this year as well. The situation is similar in the area of knowledge transfer, where the university was able to increase its previous year's score from 49.18 to a remarkable 58.12 in the category of start-ups by graduates and thus also ranks among the best universities in terms of alumni start-ups. In the two subcategories Income from Professional Training and Income from Private Sources, which were introduced this year, MBS also convinces with the top grade A and receives confirmation for its broad range of further education in the area of Executive Education as well as the MBS Empowerment Fund, which was introduced in 2020.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Baldi, Dean of Munich Business School, is extremely happy with the results of the U-Multirank 2022: "I am very pleased that our university has once again achieved a positive result in the U-Multirank 2022. It is particularly encouraging that, in addition to internationality, where we have been among the global leaders for years, we are also represented in the top group in the area of knowledge transfer three times. Chancellor Dr. Christine Menges adds: "This is a good sign that our efforts and achievements in the area of start-up support as well as in the area of executive education are paying off and are being noticed."

With its multidimensional approach, the global university ranking U-Multirank paints a comprehensive picture of the universities and colleges analysed and compares them in the five categories of teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international orientation and regional engagement. The data used for the assessment comes from various sources such as internal university data, databases and student surveys.

U-Multirank is conducted by an international consortium led by the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) in Germany, the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University and the Spanish Fundacion CYD.
