Thinking of those who have little

This was the central idea of this year's Christmas project of the first-year foreign language correspondents from Aschaffenburg in the subject "Politics and Society".

We cannot change the world - but we can change our city!

Now there are many social projects - nationwide and internationally - that deserve support. However, the students wanted to look at their immediate surroundings. Even right here, in the city of Aschaffenburg, there is poverty, people need support in the form of food, advice, care. This is exactly what the "Grenzenlos" does. According to the motto "We can't change the world - but we can change our city!", it offers help in various projects for those who need it and live in Aschaffenburg. Among other things, the association runs a department store that offers goods for daily needs.

Everything you need to feel clean and comfortable

We immediately think of food. Food donations are always needed and welcome, says Ms. Forche from Kaufhaus Grenzenlos. But hygiene articles are desperately needed. Donors don't automatically think of them ...

No sooner said than done

The FSK 1 collected shower gel, shampoo, hand cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, body lotion, denture cleanser, monthly hygiene articles and everything else needed to feel clean and comfortable. Many invested their pocket money and promoted the campaign among family and friends. The other classes of the Euro Akademie Aschaffenburg and the teachers were brought on board and were also invited to donate.

Three boxes for Grenzenlos

On 19 December 2022, representatives of FSK 1 were able to hand over three boxes with the collected goods to the Grenzenlos department stores. Ms Forche thanked them on behalf of the poor people who are supplied by the Grenzenlos department stores. She found it "especially nice and remarkable that young people think of those who have very little and need support".

Gender equality is one of the principles of our organisation. In this respect, linguistic equality is of essential importance. To ensure the non-discriminatory use of language use, we use – wherever possible – personal designations in texts that include all genders and gender identities. Accidental deviations do not imply any intention to discriminate.
